Objectives

The Rietveld Foundation (Foundation Copyright Dr. G. Th. Rietveld) manages the intellectual heritage of Gerrit Thomas Rietveld and aims to achieve a wider awareness of his work now and in the future.

The Foundation is based in Amsterdam and was founded in 1993 by Elisabeth Eskes-Rietveld, Gerrit Rietveld’s oldest daughter. The board currently consists of three grandchildren of Gerrit Rietveld.

Gerrit Rietveld’s designs are copyrighted works. The copyright of the entire oeuvre of Rietveld is owned by the Rietveld Foundation. The use of his work requires permission from the Rietveld Foundation. Pictoright represents the copyright interests of the Rietveld Foundation. Both the use of Rietveld’s designs as images must be arranged with Pictoright. See chapter Copyright.

The entirety of Gerrit Rietveld’s oeuvre is located in various museums and institutions in the Netherlands. See chapter Collections.

The Rietveld Foundation authorized licenses to a number of companies for the production of furniture and lamps designed by Rietveld. See chapter Manufacturers.
